Kelly Hemingway

Profile

I am 28 and currently coaching at Peterborough Ice Rink.  I originally started off at the tender age of 4 in gymnastics and went on to compete for Great Britain.  From there I switched sports and started skating when I was aged 10 in Grimsby, from there I relocated to train with Victor Teslia in Chemlsford and trained with Janet Champion in Colardo Springs.

I have been skating for over 17 years now and I am a Gold standard figure skater.  I’ve competed from Novice through to Senior Level at the British National Championships and International competitions. I have been a member of the British National Squad, I was also a Silver Passport holder with the British Olympic Association (B.O.A).   I was a provisional member for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games.

Before I started coaching I toured with Stage Works as the Principle Lady, I also did promotional work for both Disney On Ice and Holiday On Ice.

I am currently a Level 3 Performance Figure Skating Coach, who has been coaching for 4 and half years at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham, I have been coaching for 8 years in total.

Through my association with the B.O.A. I was bestowed the great honor of receiving a letter from Her Majesty the Queen, asking me to run in the baton relay to open the Commonwealth Games   as part of the Queens Jubilee celebrations.  The baton travelled the length and breadth of the country as it was passed through the hands of elite British athletes, it finally finished in the hands     of David Beckham who went onto light the torch to start the games.

Dancing On Ice

I recently coached Dominic Cork for Dancing On Ice 2011.  I then went on to appear on the final show of the series,as a professional skater supporting Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean in their  new version of Bolero with David Garrett playing live.

Coach Mentor

World and Olympic coach Alexander Vedenin has been my mentor and inspiration.  www.alexandervedenin.com
